Certificate in Therapeutic Play and
Diploma in Play Therapy courses in Manchester later in 2006. The centre will be easily accessible by road and rail from the North West of England, North Wales, Yorkshire and the Midlands. See drivetime map.
In the meantime 5-days training in the Play Therapy 'Tool-Kit' is available at Manchester Airport Sun 2nd July - Thu 6th July
The training is ideal for those who wish to start working safely and effectively with children and also for experienced teaching staff, social workers, counsellors, psychotherapists and clinical psychologists who wish to add therapeutic play to their 'talking therapies' skills. The programme contains many experiential and practical exercises including the Play Therapy Continuum, the therapeutic uses of creative visualisation, sandtray, storytelling, puppets, art, music and movement. The course is centred upon the non-directive approach. Upon successful completion of the 5 day workshop each participant will have gained:

A sound understanding of the principles underlying non-directive play therapy and the appropriate use of techniques
Practical skills for using therapeutic play in conjunction with existing professional skills with individual children
An ability to assess children's needs and organise the provision of appropriate therapy
An appreciation of the practical and ethical factors
Increased confidence in using therapeutic play with children and adolescents
